"Let us raise a standard to which the wise and honest may repair." - George Washington VOTING YES on 10 - South Dakota's Open and Clean Government Act - will bring common sense public disclosure and ethics reform to our state legislature, the same standards we already require by law of our federal elected officials in Washington, D.C. VOTING YES on 10 will require that relationships between government contractors and elected officials be made transparent by disclosing information about government contracts on a public web site easily accessible by taxpayers. |
"To compel a man to furnish contributions of money for the promotion of opinions he disbelieves is sinful and tyrannical." - Thomas Jefferson VOTING YES on 10 will stop taxpayer dollars from being used for lobbying and political campaigns. The Open and Clean government Act will simply take taxpayer funds out of the political process and promote ethical standards. VOTING YES on 10 will also stop state and local politicians from spending tax dollars to collect union dues from government employee paychecks, then turning the money over to liberal public employee union officials who spend it on lobbying and political activity, including to campaign against South Dakota values. |
"No man who is corrupt, no man who condones corruption in others, can possibly do his duty by the community." - Theodore Roosevelt VOTING YES on 10 will stop corrupt politicians from handing out "pay to play" government contracts to companies in exchange for campaign money. VOTING YES on 10 will stop retiring politicians and bureaucrats from trading their political influence for high-paying jobs with lobbyists or contractors after leaving office. VOTING YES on 10 will prohibit the holders on no-bid government contracts from making campaign contributions - either directly or through their immediate family members - to the politicians responsible for awarding the no-bid contracts. |
"The people will save their government, if the government itself will allow them." - Abraham Lincoln Over 26,000 South Dakota voters signed the petition to place Initiated Measure 10 on our November 4, 2008 ballot. Initiated, written, and supported by South Dakotans, Initiated Measure 10 guarantees open, clean, and honest government of the people, by the people, for the people of South Dakota. |
