SIOUX FALLS, S.D. – Dena Espenscheid, East River Field Coordinator for the committee supporting Initiated Measure 10, Monday faxed a letter to Attorney General Larry Long, requesting that the Attorney General investigate a violation of South Dakota Campaign Finance Law by the No on 10 campaign committee.
"There's a growing pattern here of repeated disregard for the most basic campaign finance reporting law requirements," Espenscheid said. "Once again, the politicians, lobbyists, and government contractors who oppose Measure 10 have broken the law, and this time they went even further by displaying their violation of the law in the Brown County office building, at taxpayers' expense."
Espenscheid provided the Attorney General photographs of a poster, hung in the Brown County Courthouse, and reportedly printed by the No on 10 Committee, which show no disclaimer as required by law. The photos were taken by Charles Pride, a Barnard resident who last month filed a complaint with the Brown County State’s Attorney about the posters.
South Dakota law requires that any printed political communications contain the phrase “Paid for by (Name of candidate, political committee, or political party)”. http://legis.state.sd.us/statutes/DisplayStatute.aspx?Statute=12-27-15&Type=Statute
